Idris Tawfiq
a former catholic priest
now, he is among the famous international daie
bismillahirrahman arrahim.
i am feeling so lucky today to met this great man again. The first time was in 2008, when i was one of the committee who arranged the talk " ideal muslim youth" for the new malaysian students in Alexandria University. That was 2 years before when i personally had my first experience dealing with an international speaker. i was kind of nervous, takut kot first time kena urus orang besar2.. but knowing him, he is such a humble person, he didn't even want us to pay him for the talk. buat amal jariah untuk anak2 y tengah belajar kot.
Idris Tawfiq,
let me introduce him to you.. he is a former catholic priest who converted to Islam. The story about his converting to Islam is very interesting, u guys better read it by urself here , sbb saya malas nak tulis panjang2..but read it with ur heart, may Allah give u the feeling as how we first hear it from himself. Yes, this muslim speak with his heart while telling the story...when i first listened to him, i realized that new muslim tend to appreciate Islam as a gift more than those who is born with Islam. They thanked Allah thousand times than us, keep saying Alhamdulillah..Allahu akbar.. while we oftenly saying those word without the meaning from our heart. sedihkan. Tadi bila each time Idris Tawfiq sebut Alhamdulillah, rasa sayu..benar2 terasa feeling memuji kebesaran Allah.. sometime i questioned myself, why we seldomly thanked Allah for Islam and Iman that we have, since we were borned. We are honoured by Islam but sadly we didn't appreciate the gift from Allah..Islam is just a religion, an ID may be for some muslims out there.
He told us today, Islam is not all about rules and not at all an oppression. be an Islam FUNdamentalist, he said.. dont look miserable with Islam, be a qudwah..let people have good impression on Islam. We may have time to spend with friends, hang out together, shopping, playing but everything of course within limits..that's where Islam stand on moderate and balance.
speaking about becoming a successful doctor, he remind us:
an excellent doctor is an excellent muslim.
being a doctor, you need to know what life is, how to deal with it..not just reading all textbooks you have alone at home avoiding from the community.
we cant just wandering in life. In practicing medicine, we must have a strong reason to say why i choose to become a doctor.. if money is what matter you, you should be shameful of yourself. because when you die, non of your companion will remind others how much dollars you had when you are alive, but if you are a good person, a good muslim and a good doctor, people will always remember ur kindess and good deeds.
what success you are chasing for?
answer it by urself...if you have the reason to be successful, today and hereafter.
success is what comes from the eyes of Allah..
you may judge wealthy as success, high grades as success, but non of these will remain forever in life..so the true success is by serving Allah.
humbly, be a good slave of Allah
practice itqan in all your deeds.
and his last advise to us...
"BE THE BEST AS U CAN BE"
because we were born to become extraordinary..muslims, we are the chosen ummah!
